Become an Examinee and Contribute to Various Canadian Standardization Projects!
Pearson is developing Canadian norms for various assessment instruments including the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale®—Fourth Edition: Canadian (WAIS–IVCDN) and the Wechsler Memory Scale®—Fourth Edition (WMS®–IV), the two gold-standard instruments for measuring cognitive and memory abilities in adults. Our Research and Development team is looking for volunteers between the ages of 16 to 90 to take some tests and help establish this normative data.
Why Should I Participate?
This is an exciting opportunity for you not only to gain insight into and knowledge of the process of IQ and memory testing, but also to be a part of the development of norms based on Canadian data. Many adolescents, adults, and older adults from various regions of Canada, of different ethnicities and different educational levels will be participating in this project. Join this exciting and important group of individuals!
What Will I Be Asked to Do?
After signing a consent form, you will be asked to sit face to face with an examiner in a quiet environment to complete tasks such as puzzles, block designs, numerical operations, word reading, and picture recognition. The examiner may ask you to answer the questions orally or in writing, depending on the test and the section.
How Long? Where? How Much?
One session will take between 2 to 3 hours to complete, and an examiner will make an appointment with you to take the test at a time that is convenient for you. We do our best to accommodate your needs in terms of time and location. At the end of the evaluation, you will receive $35 to $65 (depending on the test) as compensation for your time and effort.
Will I Be Able to Get My Results?
All of your information, including your test scores, remains strictly confidential. We will use the information from your test, as well as the information from all other participants, to create the final version of this important assessment tool. As your scores will become a part of the Canadian normative data, we will be unable to provide you with an individual score. Once the test is published, professionals will use it to evaluate adolescents and adults.
I Am Interested. Now What?
If you are interested in being one of our test participants, please call 1.800.387.7278 ext. 2148 or email examiners.canada@pearson.com. We will need to know your age, location, ethnicity, and education level to determine if you meet the needs of the project. Although we cannot guarantee your participation in the project, we do appreciate every enquiry.
