Procedure
Note: Always
calibrate both
read heads.
- Hold down both buttons on the front of the scanner for 10-15 seconds until the "Background Menu" appears
- When "Background Menu" appears, release both buttons. (On some scanners it flashes by very quickly.)
- The type of scanner will appear. Press Continue.
- At "Sheet Count," press Continue.

- Follow the prompts to calibrate the scanner. The sheets should be right side up with Calibration Sheet 1 first. The row of small black rectangles that go from top to bottom along one edge, which are called "Timing Marks," should be towards you and near the display. Once the sheets are in the hopper, push Start. If your scanner is not an autofeed model, load the sheets one at a time. The sheets will run through the scanner. For additional information on scanner calibration recommendations, see:
- At "Calibration Complete," press Quit. Proceed to the bottom read head (if you have one) for calibration.
- At "Bottom Head Calibrate?," press Yes. This time, the sheets should be upside down and backwards so that the timing marks are again near the display and the arrows are pointing out. Calibration Sheet 1 should still be on top. The sheets will run through the scanner.
- At "Calibration Complete," press Quit.
- At "Com Configuration?," press No.
- At "Display Brightness?," press No.
- At "Exit Utilities?," press Yes.
